Local orchestra helps with local youth

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Crossroads of America Youth Orchestra hosted a concert Sunday evening to get the Wabash Valley into the giving holiday spirit.

The celebration featured holiday tunes from around the globe, but it wasn’t just the music that took center stage.

The group partnered with the League of Terre Haute , which is a group focused on helping the underprivileged youth of Terre Haute.

Their goal was to help keep those in need warm this winter.

Everyone who took part was asked to bring donations of hats, gloves and warm gear of the cold months.

It’s just one way the group is giving back.

"I got a Christmas card that said wish you warm welcome, and I thought it's not warm for everyone this winter. These children in this orchestra are very privileged to be here. It's there responsibility to give back to the community that supports us," said Sandy Mutchler of Crossroads of American Youth Orchestra.

If you didn’t make it to Sunday night’s concert, but still want to donate, five First National Bank locations around Terre Haute are joining in on the collection.

You can drop off new coats, hats and gloves at any of the locations.
