TERRE, Ind. (WTHI) - Several area cities including Terre Haute and Vincennes switched their method of buying salt from the state before winter.
They bought a specified amount prior to the winter.
Cities say it is similar to buying in bulk and that switch collectively saved an estimated $8 million around the state.
The Terre Haute Street Department said they've saved a substantial amount by switching to the new system on a local level.
