TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A local church brought the community together in the name of peace.
Rapture Temple in Terre Haute hosted a special service today, called "Stop the Violence."
Several presenters spoke out against violence and crime in communities and schools.
Vigo County School Superintendent Danny Tanoos was one of those speakers.
Organizers hope the event sparks a discussion on how to promote peace in the area.
"Violence is kind of universal. So, we're trying to do our part in the church community to let the community know that we're not hidden from it and we see it and we want to be a part of the solution,” said pastor Arnick Shouse II, one of the event organizers.
Indiana State University Gospel Choir, Ebony Majestic, performed at Sunday's event as well.
