TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Terre Haute North Little League players, coaches, and families attended Recognition Day and celebrated the end of the season, which completed the league's 50th Anniversary.

The THN Little League's first start began in 1962.

They started with just one diamond for all the teams to share, and expanded over the years into how it's currently set up.

The ball park now includes five fields, 500 players, batting cages, and concessions stands.

"Really the whole community support us throughout the 50 years to be able to survive that long. Many local little leagues have folded over those 50 years. There are only three little leagues left in Terre haute, our being probably the biggest,” North Little League President Jay Knott said.

Chevrolet in Terre Haute donated a $500 check to THN Little League.  That money will go towards continuing improvements to the ball park.
