EMT accused of sexual misconduct turns himself in to police

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Jason Jordan, 27, charged with sexual misconduct and theft, has turned himself in and is being held in the Putnam County Jail.

Police had reason to believe that Jordan had left the state when the warrant was issued last week.

The former EMT is accused of inappropriately touching a female patient in an ambulance and removing pictures from the patients cell phone while the patient was being transported from Clay-St. Vincent Hospital to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

After about a week of the US Mashall Fugitive Task Force and Indiana State Police searching for him, police said Jordan showed up at the Putnam County Sheriff's Department in Greencastle around 1 p.m.

Police said he walked right into the jail and turned himself in without notifying authorities.

A quiet arrest that even surprised police.

"Normally when someone finds out a warrant has been issued they usually turn themself in that day or the next day,"Indiana State Police Sergeant Joe Watts said. "But it seems like it's rare that someone would wait to turn themselves in after a week, so it was somewhat surprise to us too."

The Indiana State Police have no information to release on Jordan’s whereabouts for the last few days.

Jordan was working for Terre Haute based Trans Care Ambulance Service at the time, but has since been let go.

He is being held in the Putnam County Jail with no bond.   After first being told he would appear in court Friday morning, News 10 has learned he will now be in court on Monday.

Jordan’s charges are punishable by up to three years in prison.
