Jail makes new plan to save money

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Vigo County officials created a new plan to help staff the Vigo County jail during the holidays and save money.

The current system gives all of the jails employees as many as 15 Holiday compensation days each year, which adds up to more than 700 days off.

The new plan ends the "comp day" system, and instead, pays all employees on holidays, whether the employee works or does not work. Employees that do work will receive double pay.

The plan was approved by the County Council and begins in 2013.
