TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State University President Dan Bradley helps federal officials launch a new program.
Bradley was in Washington D.C. Tuesday and joined Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a news conference.
He helped launch the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program, which will provide $5 billion to employers and unions to help maintain coverage for retirees who are not yet eligible for Medicare.
At the conference, Bradley said this will be good for ISU's employees who are ready to retire but fear doing so without health insurance coverage.
Businesses and unions that are accepted into the program will receive reimbursements for medical claims from early retirees.
ISU and the Vigo County School Corporation are among the 74 organizations in Indiana that will receive first-round funding under the program.
