CLINTON, Ind. (WTHI) - Local businesses also took part in the Great American Shake out.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security visited the Wal-mart in Clinton Tuesday morning to make sure the store and employees were ready in case of an earthquake.

Emergency officials say stores and residents need to be prepared for more than just the initial shake.

"Certainly if something catastrophic happened first responders wouldn't be able to get to all the residents at the same time. So we are asking residents and everyone to be able to self sustain themselves and their families for 72 hours,” Arvin Copeland, from Indiana Homeland Security said.

Your emergency kit should be tailored to your family's needs. They should include canned food, Water, Batteries and medication.
