I-STEP test begins

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A statewide test kicked off this week.

Schools across the Hoosier state have started taking the ISTEP examination. Vigo county school officials said the test is very important.

That's because it helps the state determine which areas need more focus in your child's education.

They recommend making sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast before heading off to school.

"This is a very important assessment for our state, for our schools and for our students that offers us a lot of feedback on how our students do, and so we just want our students to understand that importance and just be in a positive environment," John Newport from the Vigo County School Corporation.
