CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - An accident on I-70 leaves one person dead.

The accident happened just after 8:30 Thursday evening at the 24 mile marker, near the Brazil exit.

The crash involved four semis and a car.

Indiana State Police tell News 10 the driver of the first semi could not slow in time and struck a large tree that had fallen into the roadway,  then traveled off the west edge of the roadway into a watery ditch.

That driver died at the scene, and has been identified as 53 year old Robert J. Reedy II from Brazil.

The remaining three semis and passenger car sustained moderate to heavy damage, but the drivers were not injured.

All lanes of I-70 were reopened at around 3:00 Friday morning.
