TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A local organization honored a member of our community Thursday evening who has been helping people in the Wabash Valley for years.

The area Hospice organization held their annual Hospice Holiday Celebration at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute.

Hospice honored Joy Sacopolis at the event

Joy has taken part in several efforts to help the community, including being involved with several not for profits.

Officials say they try to find someone who is excellent example of service.

"This is our 30th year in the community so we just try to find people who we think are worthy of recognition in our community,” Trudy Rupska, from Hospice said.

It was the 23rd year for the event.
