TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - This Labor Day weekend police are ramping up patrols to make sure drunk drivers are off the roads.

It is part of a blitz period from August 22 to September 5.

More than 200 law enforcement agencies are looking to stop folks from driving dangerously.

Indiana State Police will have more troopers on patrol as well as some DUI checkpoints.

"We are vigorously going to be out there this weekend to make sure that Indiana roadways are safe here in the Putnamville District. We want you to do your part in driving safe and sober," Sergeant Joe Watts of the Indiana State Police said.

Along with more police, there will be more drivers on the road.

The amount of Labor Day travel is expected to increase by close to 10 percent from last year.
