TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - With gas prices around $4 a gallon, many Wabash Valley residents find alternate ways of transportation.
One of those ways is riding the bus.
The transit department charges just 40 dollars a month for a bus pass, helping residents save a lot of money.
The transit department says they're on their way to having one of the best years they've ever had.
"We find that rider ship increases when gas prices start getting around $3.50, and now with gas prices $4 a gallon, ridership has increased by about 18 percent over last year," Transportation Director Brad Miller said.
Terre Haute Transit's route has grown to help get you where you need to go.
