Heavy rain blamed for train vs car crash

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Police are blaming heavy rain on a car accident involving a train.

It happened just after midnight early Wednesday morning in Terre Haute.
    
Police say a woman was driving on 8th Avenue. She went to turn on to 13th Street, However, because of rain, her vision was impaired.
    
As a result, she wound up turning on to the tracks. Shortly after, her car was hit bu an oncoming train.

She was able to escape the vehicle, police say she wasn’t hurt.
