TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Health conditions can be scary.

However, hospitals in the Wabash Valley are helping you fight back by giving you the information you need, and it's at your fingertips.

"How do I get that info, where do i go that can make a difference so that my family's better off tomorrow than they are today, and that's what this is about. That's what makes this exciting," Union Hospital President and CEO Scott Teffeteller said.

Union and Regional Hospitals, along with the Terre Haute Chamber, have teamed up to bring you the Community Health Needs Assessment.

It's a website that offers pages of data and ways to improve your current health.

"It's almost without limit, and you can look up all aspects of health, poverty, just, you can see a profile that I've never seen of the Wabash Valley," AET Human Resources Director Ken Baker said.

"Having county specific information will help us provide care in the counties that's relevant to the citizens of that county," Regional Hospital CEO Mary Ann Conroy said.

Health care professionals and government officials say this long-term project spans six Wabash Valley counties.

"This is about the collectiveness of our community coming together in difficult times to pull all of our resources together and say this is what makes the Wabash Valley special," Teffeteller said.

It's an education tool that helps you take control to bring you more accurate information, in hopes of making your health concerns a little less intimidating.

"Take possession of your own health. You own it, and the biggest change factor is inside of you," Conroy said.
