TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Two Terre Haute groups will soon work to get weapons off city streets.
Terre Haute Police and Retired Teachers of Vigo County will hold a gun buy back in April.
Event workers will offer weapons owners gift cards for guns.
They'll hold the event at Meadows Shopping Center April 13th.
Police say guns they collect will be destroyed.
"A lot of people talk about 2nd Amendment rights ... To keep our children safe,” said Geri Black.
Organizers say the credit-instead-of-cash-incentive is to reinforce gun owners’ promise not to purchase new guns.
