TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The electric company awarded $10,000 to the Rural Health Innovation Collaborative in Terre Haute.

The money will help pay for a study concerning a business incubator, designed to encourage small start-up businesses.

Another $20,000 went to the Vigo County Redevelopment Commission to pay for a land survey at the former site of Pfizer manufacturing in Terre Haute.

This survey will create a map dividing the 845 acres into smaller lots suitable for new businesses.

"It will really bring some new start up businesses to this town. Plus, there are some former Pfizer scientists and engineers that probably have some great ideas and they could be integrated into this particular incubator," said Regional Economic Development Manager at Duke Energy Mike Heaton.

The grants come from Duke Energy's Community Growth Partnership created to generate jobs and investment in Indiana.
