JASONVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) - State parks are providing some outdoor fun for the whole family, and it won't cost a penny.
This weekend state parks across Indiana are holding a free fishing weekend.
Today and tomorrow Wabash Valley residents can go out to parks like Shakamak State Park and fish without purchasing a license.
The nature center at the park has fishing poles available for the rookie fisherman. This weekend is all about introducing Hoosiers to the hobby.
"We want people to know they can come out and try it and see what they think. If they like it they can purchase a license. It's a good day, if you have kids and you wanna kinda teach them and see how they like it before you go and spend the money to get a license,” Lynda Ellington of Shakamak State Park said.
