TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Fog advisories Thursday morning delayed schools and made for a slow moving morning commute.
Visibility was down to less than a quarter mile in most of the Wabash Valley, making it a dangerous drive.
The drive was more dangerous when drivers didn’t use their headlights.
Indiana law requires drivers to use headlights when visibility is low.
Although it's vague, state police say it's best to use your common sense.
"If you go outside and it looks foggy and there is low light visibility, turn your headlights on,” Sgt. Joe Watts of the Indiana State Police said. “The more people with headlights on, the safer our roads will be."
Sergeant Watts also says taking it slow helps when visibility is so low.
