Family escapes safely from house fire

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A portable heater is being blamed for a Sunday evening fire.
It happened at around 9:00 Sunday night at a home located at 1438 Lafayette Avenue, in Terre Haute
All five members of the family, including three children, made it out safely.
Resident Victoria Tevlin says "I went to the kitchen to get the kids a snack. My daughter heard a crackling noise and popping. I opened my bedroom door, and it was engulfed in flames."
