TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Terre Haute City Council is set to discuss budget and finance issues Thursday night during their last sunshine meeting of 2012.
Among the measures up for discussion are 19 appropriations which would move money between various city funds. Those include $3.5 million to be moved from the city’s Rainy Day Fund to its General Fund.
Mayor Duke Bennett said such appropriations, which move money from funds with a surplus to funds that have come in over budget, are common.
“When you get at the end of the year, there are certain line-items in the budget that, for whatever reason, have gone over, and you’ve got other line items that you’ve kept under,” Bennett said. “Some things we can transfer internally … some things require council action.”
The council is also set to discuss items affecting city streets, including a measure that would turn Cherry Street between 3 rd and 8 th Streets into a two-way street.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m.
