TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A week before Black Friday some in the Wabash Valley are giving back on Orange Friday.

On Friday afternoon, volunteers took donations to help fight hunger at several sites around Terre Haute.

In exchange, volunteers got orange ribbons to help raise awareness of hunger in the region.

Organizers say it's a big problem that doesn't always attention.

"Today, we are raising awareness of hunger right her in our own community. We have one in six people who are food insecure in the Wabash Valley and surrounding areas," said Robin Heng of Visiting Nurses and Hospice.

Organizers say a donation of $3 can help the Catholic Charities food bank feed a family of four for one day
