In fact, 300 elementary students packed into the Terre Haute Children's Museum on Tuesday.
The museum said more schools are booking trips and taking advantage of local facilities during the budget crunch.
"They're having to cut back field trips or cut back fields out of their schedule all together," Terre Haute Children's Museum Executive Director Lynn Hughes said. "So, having a facility like this so close to home makes it really convenient for them."
The Parke County Community Foundation sponsored the students fun filled day.
"The museum here was such a bargain for local people that we were able to bring all 1,200 elementary kids here this week," Parke County Community Foundation Executive Director Brad Bumgardner said."
Bumgardner said said it would have cost them 3-times as much to send all those kids to the children's museum in Indianapolis.
