TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Folks in the Wabash Valley learn about Alzheimer's and how to detect early warning signs of the disease.
The event was titled "Know the 10 Signs."
The purpose was to help educate the community on how to look for early signs of Alzheimer's in themselves and others.
The Alzheimer's Association hosted the free event.
Some of the signs you should look for are changes in memory, confusion with time or place, new problems with speaking or writing and changes in mood or personality.
One of the reasons early detection is so important is so you can have responsibility for your future.
"Then there's some time to plan," said Kristi Ritchie, Family and Community Education Specialist. "Time to communicate with family your wishes."
If you do notice any early signs of the disease in yourself or others, you should see a doctor because some of these things are reversible if detected early on.
