TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - More and more Hoosiers enroll in medical programs.

Trans-Care sees record enrollment in their EMT training program this year.

Classes held at the Riley Fire Department have doubled in size.

The Trans-Care instructor Nick Montelauro said the dramatic rise may be from the bottoming economy.

"We think that some of it has to do with the economy and some of it has to do with the fact that the medical field is something that is always going to be there whether the economy is up or down," Trans-Care's primary instructor Nick Montelauro said.

Montelauro said an EMT Certification is a less expensive way to enter the medical profession.

EMTs can currently find employment in fire departments, rescue squads, ambulances, and hospital emergency rooms.

If you would like to learn more about this program you can call Trans-Care at 812-460-0730, extension 125.
