TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - If you have air conditioning in your house, it may be getting a workout the next few days.
When the mercury rises more energy is used as folks try to stay cool.
And that can cause electric bills to skyrocket for some people.
Officials with Duke Energy realize those bills can be taught to handle, but say don't let it get out of control.
"I would encourage them if they see they are getting in trouble on their electric bill, is to give us a call be fore they get to that stage of being shut off,” Rick Burger, from Duke Energy said.
Burger also says that Duke Energy has a budget billing program, which can make the high electric bills manageable for families.
