VIGO CO., Ind. (WTHI) - The Vigo County Sheriff's Department said the advanced severe weather warning and driving safety tips kept accidents down during this snow fall.
News 10 spoke with Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing about the travel conditions Wednesday.
He said despite the snowfall, it was a relatively quiet day.
Folks seemed to stay indoors and heed their warnings about cautious low-speed driving.
But, even so, the Sheriff said drivers should be cautious even after the end of the snowfall.
"Obviously, with the temperatures as cold as they are [Wednesday], you need to know if you do have to be out, allow plenty of time to get to that destination, and, also, allow enough time between you and the car in front of you to get stopped," Sheriff Ewing said.
Sheriff Ewing said the travel advisories come through the county Emergency Management Associations, but the Sheriff's Department is one of the many groups involved in the process.
