Drug dogs search Wabash Valley schools

CLINTON, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police K-9's helped speed up a drug search at North Vermillion and South Vermillion High Schools.
The ISP dogs searched more than 1,000 lockers. They also sniffed for drugs in cars parked in the school lots.
It is an extensive search that would take regular police units much longer to complete.
"These dogs are highly trained. They're highly trained for illicit drugs, and it takes them only a matter of seconds to do a complete hallway searching for illicit drugs, Sgt. Joe Watts with the Indiana State Police said.
Indiana State Police say the searches are done at the request of school officials.
Wednesday's search did not turn up any illegal drugs on school grounds.
