TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The holiday season is still a ways away.
However, the current drought could impact your holiday decorating this year.
Holiday Hill Tree Farm, in Terre Haute said the lack of rain has hurt the trees' growth this summer.
In particular, Fir trees aren't surviving.
Out of the 200 they planted, only one made it.
Scotch Pines, on the other hand, are doing well and surprisingly, bigger than ever.
"The lack of rainfall, the trees haven't grown much over the summer as they normally would. This year's crop, however, they're for some reason.. in the past several years, we've gotten a lot of rain and they are bigger than normal," Holiday Hill Tree Farm Owner Doug Miller said.
This year's late frost didn't help growth either.
An upside; they haven't had to worry about bugs getting to trees.
