SULLIVAN CO., Ind. (WTHI) - An accident involving a dirt bike sent one person to an Indianapolis hospital Sunday afternoon.

It happened just after noon on the Sullivan County, Vigo County line.

According to Indiana Conservation Officers, three people were riding dirt bikes; however, one male was injured while riding near the Fairbanks Landing Fish and Wildlife Reserve.

He was riding up a hill on his back tire when he hit several trees.

The victim's name is not being released at this time.

Officers on scene said the victim did receive at least one major strike to the head, according to the evidence of a sizable crack in his helmet: an accessory that likely saved his life.

The rider was transported to an Indianapolis Hospital for a broken leg and head injuries.

Officials don’t believe his injuries are life threatening at this time.

News 10 will bring you more information as it becomes available.
