VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Investigators have new information in a Vigo County homicide investigation.

However, answers are still few.

This, after a fisherman found a woman dead Saturday night.

Investigators said the man found her along a gravel road north of State Road 42.

That's right on the Vigo, Clay County Line.

Jon Sands and his wife live about a mile away from where the fisherman found the body.

It's a quiet community, until Saturday night.

"I was kind of stunned because I didn't know anything about it, you know, keep pretty close watch on things around here," Sands said.

Sands found out when his neighbor called saying that a dead woman was found near the neighbor's property.

Like Sands, everyone has many unanswered questions.

"You hear things like this a lot, missing people and you know I don't know what to think about it, other than I feel sorry for the victim," he said.

No one knows who that victim is.

"Finding out who she is could very easily tell us who her killer is, the key is to find out who she is," Vigo County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Clark Cottom said.

Vigo County Sheriff's Department along with other agencies work around the clock to find a name.

"We are going to use all resources to find out who this young lady is and all resources to bring her killer to justice," Chief Cottom said.

Law enforcement on Monday issued an updated victim description.

Authorities say the victim is between 5'3" and 5'6".

She weighs between 135 pounds to 165 pounds.

The victim has brown hair with braids, longer than shoulder length.

Investigators believe she was last seen wearing Ocean Pacific Skate shoes, sold at Wal-Mart.

"She is somebody's daughter, she might be somebody's girlfriend, spouse, she might be somebody's sister, so we would ask the public to contact your distant relatives, people that you don't hear from often," Chief Cottom said.

If you have any information that can help detectives with this case, immediately call (812) 232-3801.
