TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Police say when they pull over a car, the people they find behind the wheel are often so nervous, they look like deer caught in headlights.
On Wednesday, though, News 10 found a couple behind the wheel who wear that look all year long.
Inside a parked Volkswagen on South 7 th Street, we found two stuffed deer heads mounted to the car’s driver and passenger seats.
Most passing motorists slowed up to get a good look. Some honked and others laughed.
The car’s owner, Michael Capick, said that laughter is his goal, particularly after a grim week in national news.
“I’ve always tried to do something during Christmas for people, and as hard as times were, I just wanted to see people smile … just laugh,” Capick said.
Capick said he usually parks the car outside his home, though he said he sometimes sets up one of the heads in his back seat and drives through town.
Capick did offer a warning though: he doesn’t recommend crossing the street in front of the deer … at least not while wearing an orange vest.
