TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Construction workers are able to come out of a weather-forced hibernation.
The warmer weather is bringing more building projects to the area.
Projects like the Booker T. Washington building at Terre Haute South, and an expansion of Providence Place are popping up around the Valley.
Last February Vigo County Building Inspection reported only one house permit application.
Already in March, they've received nine. Officials believe the weather has a lot to do with the increase.
"With the winter we've had this year, that's not been a pleasant winter to be outside working. I think that's a deciding factor in construction that's just now started in the last couple weeks," David Reeves from Vigo County Building Inspection said.
Officials said while the weather plays a huge role in the increase in construction.. they also believe signs of a better economy could be influencing land owners to build.
