TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Several people in the Wabash Valley turn out to rise above a deadly disease.

The Climbers Against Cancer competition was held in Terre Haute tonight.

It was the second year for the event.

It raised money for cancer research and care.

In addition to climbing, there were also drawings for prizes.

Organizers say the fundraiser hits close to home.

"I've just always been passionate about Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society since my mother passed away from cancer in 2006," said Krista Steinmetz, "so I'm always just trying to think of new ways to get people involved, and just think of new fundraisers that people will have a fun time going to."

Krista says she hopes the event will continue next year as well.
