City cleans up trash dump site

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A long-time trash dump site will be cleaned up, thanks to the city's efforts.
For at least three years, the area by 15th and Washington Streets in Terre Haute was used as a place for trash.
Now, thanks to Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett, Code Enforcement and Republican Waste Services, the street will be cleared within the next couple of weeks.
"Everyone wants to live in a clean city, nobody likes litter and the filth that people just think they can throw out, leave it up to somebody else to clean up," Code Enforcement Supervisor Laurie Tharp said.
The area will be barricaded once it's cleaned up.
If you receive a citation for dumping trash, you'll be required to go to court, potentially paying up to $300.
