ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) - An 18 month old boy is hospitalized after an incident involving a horse drawn cart.

The Parke County Sheriff's Department received a call about a child that was thrown from the cart that was pulling a hay wagon on a rural Rockville road.

Police say they found the horses running out of control and not obeying commands from the father of the child.

A wheel from the hay wagon ran over the child.

The child was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health for head and shoulder injuries.

Initial reports say the child was unresponsive, and C-P-R was performed by the father before emergency personnel arrived.
