Charles Jarrett pleaded guilty

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A man charged with murder, robbery, and failure to register as a sex offender pleaded guilty.

Charles Jarrett shot and killed Kenard Gipson, 32, of Chicago, Illinois this past September, after what police call a botched robbery.

Officers indicated Jarett's motive was either for the drugs in a Terre Haute home or drug money.

Last Friday, Jarrett pleaded guilty.

His original murder charge has been amended to voluntary manslaughter, which is still an A Felony.

He will be sentenced August 27th.
