ROBINSON, Ill. (WTHI) - Just about everyone in Robinson, all 6,700 residents, watched or listened to Saturday night's game. It seems like every business and home had signs of support too.

When you drive into Robinson, you may notice the sign that proclaims the birth of favorite son, author James Jones. But soon it may be joined by a sign proclaiming the Robinson Maroons as Class 2A State Champions in basketball.

There were lots of sign up. Some seem hopeful. Others read like prophesy that has come to pass. Whether black and white, or full of color, or whether they are professionally done, or handmade, the signs are a symbol of unity of a town rallying behind a team. A cinderella story which turns into a championship.

"It's a once in a lifetime thrill, having a team win state," says fan Butch Rees.

More than 300 came to the Eagle Theater Saturday night, not to watch a movie, but watch the big win.

"Oh I knew they were going to win as soon as it went to overtime," says Ryan Cafin.

It's a team that will be number one in this town for years and decades to come.
