DANA, Ind. (WTHI) - Joe Hendrix makes a trip to Brooke's Candy Company to buy something sweet for the ladies in his life.

"Valentine's Day, get some for my daughters," Hendrix said.

He says he relies on Brooke's for every occasion: Christmas, birthdays, and of course, Valentine's Day.

"Oh it's everybody's favorite chocolate. Nobody does it like this the best. I've got family in KY and family everywhere and everybody loves Brooke's chocolates," he said.

Many customers like Hendrix get their chocolate-fill this time of year.

"We do very good at Valentine's day," Brooke's Candy Company Co-owner Brooke Schmidt said.

Brooke's Candy Company sees triple the sales.

In fact, they close after Christmas and re-open just in time for Valentine's day, after spending weeks preparing.

"We're in the kitchen constantly until Valentine's day is over because we usually have to refill the turtles and mostly the assorted truffles. They always go pretty quick," Schmidt said.

While their toffee is usually the hit, turtles and truffles are the chocolates of choice for Valentine's day.

Their specials this year are the 12 piece gift boxes and cranberry cremes.

"We make it until they're gone. I mean then we just, mom yells in the window and says we need more, we make more," she said.

Customers like the Hendrix family get their dose of chocolate.

"They all like the assortments. It's just it, it's not like you pick out the bad ones, whatever is in the box is their favorite," Hendrix said.

For Brooke's Candy Company, chocolate is the only present to give this time of year.

"Chocolate. Chocolate is always the best Valentine's gift," Schmidt said.

Brooke's Candy Company will be open this Monday and Tuesday from 11 am to 6 pm for Valentine's Day.

Their normal business hours are Friday from 11 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.
