TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Terre Haute Regional Hospital today announced that Brian Bauer has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by unanimous vote of its Board of Trustees.
“Brian has demonstrated strong leadership skills while serving as the hospital’s Chief Financial Officer and more recently as interim CEO,” said Margaret Lewis, President of HCA’s Richmond, VA-based Capital Division. “We’re extremely confident in his ability to guide the hospital as it continues its tradition of providing excellent care to patients.”
“As a lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Brian knows the community inside and out and is committed to its well-being,” said Bart Colwell, Chairman of the hospital’s Board of Trustees. “He has earned the trust and respect of our employees and physicians, and we’re delighted to have him step into the role of CEO on a full-time basis.”
Bauer joined Regional Hospital in May 2005. Since then he has served as Manager of Managed Care, Hospital Controller and Chief Financial Officer. He was named Interim Chief Executive Officer in mid-February. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in finance from Butler University in Indianapolis and an MBA in health care from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.
Bauer was recently appointed by the governor of Indiana to the Board of Indiana Health Information Technology, Inc. (IHIT) an organization committed to furthering the use of electronic health information technology in the state.
He has been an active and engaged in many community organizations, serving as Chairman of the American Heart Association Heart Walk and as a board member of the Vigo County March of Dimes, the Vigo County Education Foundation, the Vigo County Taxpayers Association, and the Terre Haute Board of Public Works.
Bauer and his wife Heather reside in Terre Haute with their son Collin. They are members of Union Christian Church.
