TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Breakfast Optimist Club of Terre Haute opened its tree lot at the intersection of 7th and Margaret Friday.

The tree sale, which club members say has continued yearly for at least 30 years, benefits programs for youth in the Wabash Valley.

“All the proceeds and all the donations and all the money we receive, we turn around and give to kids of the community,” said member Jeff Fisher. “We support several different organizations: Ryves Hall, 14th and Chestnut, Boy and Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, anything to do with kids.”

Fisher said the club will continue selling trees at the lot until Christmas Eve or until all trees are sold.

The lot is open from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
