TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Chauncey Rose Middle School in Terre Haute is closed now.
However, its building will continue serving kids through a program that's also given back to our community over the years.
The Boys and Girls Club in Terre Haute will soon begin moving into the former school.
Their director says they serve over 200 kids a day, and they need more space.
The major perks include more outdoor area, technology, and it's biking and walking distance for many kids.
"The school corporation did us such a favor by giving us that piece of property. We're going to the kids that really need us most, which is kind of, that's our mission and our goal really here is to serve as many kids as we can, give them opportunities that they wouldn't otherwise have," Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Jimmy Smith said.
The organization hopes to be officially moved in by September 1st.
The long term goal is to build another gymnasium at Chauncey Rose and for ISU to eventually take over their current building on north 3rd Street.
