BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) - Wabash Valley parents can rest a little easier after police said two attempted child abduction reports are now considered misunderstandings.

News 10 first brought you this story on February 18, when police responded to two different attempted child abductions in the Edgewood Subdivision in Brazil, Indiana.

Police continue to look for one driver, but police said no charges of attempted child abduction look to be filed.

News 10 talked to Police Chief Dave Archer of the Brazil Police Department Tuesday. After nearly 3 weeks of investigating police are now calling both attempted child abductions, misunderstandings.

The first report happened on Ringo Dr. involving a 7-year-old boy. Police now say the boy was throwing snowballs across the street and that's when the driver of a gold Ford truck stopped and the driver waved the boy over, trying to ask the children not to throw snowballs at his car.

However, police said before the driver could ask the boy ran into his home and the man drove away.

Police said this claim came after the driver turned himself into police after News 10 first announced the alert.

Chief Archer said they are still looking for the driver of a gold van who allegedly approached a young girl on Pinecrest Dr. in the same neighborhood.

Police said they still want to talk to the driver, but police said they do not believe he was attempting an abduction.

Chief Archer said they have reason to believe the driver was intoxicated.

Police said they are still investigating that incident.

Although police said these two cases look to be misunderstandings, they said both children reacted exactly how they should.

Officials said children should not approach strangers and if they are approached by someone they don't know, they should report it to their parents or the police.

Police remind all parents to teach your child about strangers and dangerous situations.
