TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Brent Anderson, 72, the beloved coach and husband of Judy Anderson, Terre Haute’s only female mayor, was laid to rest over the weekend in a private, family service.
Judy Anderson, who’s recovering from the same car crash brought on by her husband’s fatal heart attack while behind the wheel, was unable to attend her husband’s memorial service; family members, though, did rig Judy a live web camera so she could view the service from her hospital bed. That was Friday morning, by late that evening Judy had been transferred from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, according to Joe Anderson, Brent Anderson’s older brother, and also a prominent, Terre Haute attorney.
Joe Anderson told News 10, Judy is likely looking at at least another two weeks of intense physical therapy at RHI. He said Judy is in amazingly good spirits, considering what she’s been through, and that she is mobile enough to move, with assistance, from her bed to a wheelchair.
Joe added that Judy’s injuries consist of the following: multiple broken bones, including several ribs, and a crushed sternum; a broken back in the upper and middle spine; a contusion; and several superficial abrasions from the March 3 crash that included the Anderson car leaving the road, and slamming into several objects, and ultimately coming to rest against a tree.
Brent Anderson was buried in Calvary Cemetery near Rose Hulman in Terre Haute. According to the family, there will be a public celebration of life service for him at St. Joseph’s Parrish at 5th and Poplar in Terre Haute, but the date is to be announced. Reason being, Judy Anderson, according to Joe, is adamant about attending that memorial service and her release could be a good six weeks away.
