Clark County, IL, (WTHI) - - The Illinois State Police are telling News 10 two people have died in a two vehicle accident on Interstate 70.
It happened in Clark County, Illinois just west of Marshall.
According to ISP, a passenger vehicle driving eastbound lost control for an unknown reason, crossed the median, and hit a semi-trailer traveling westbound.
The semi-trailer was carrying hazardous material; however, ISP reports there were no problems with the load or leaks of the material.
The two occupants of the passenger car were both killed in the crash.
Interstate 70 westbound remains closed at this hour at the Marshall exit. All traffic is being routed off the Interstate at that exit. As of 3 p.m. Eastern time, ISP reported they hoped to have the highway open within the hour.
Illinois State Police, along with their commercial vehicle officer, is working the case. The Clark County Sheriff’s office is assisting with traffic, as well as the Marshall Police Department.
