VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - An early morning accident in Northern Vigo County left one person dead. The crash happened just after 8 am, at the corner of Crystal Avenue and Clinton Street, just south of Sky King Airport.

According to the sheriff's office Lucy Bensinger, 95, was crossing Clinton Street from the side road and did not yield the right of way.

A van hit Bensinger and spun her vehicle. She was removed from the car and taken by emergency helicopter to Indianapolis.

The 95-year-old was pronounced dead just after Saturday morning.

The driver of the van was taken to Union Hospital and later transported to Indianapolis with head injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
