TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - One of the deepest low pressure systems over the continental U.S., outside of a hurricane, brought significant storm damage to the Wabash Valley on Tuesday.
Winds with the system gusted between 40 and 70 mph across the upper Midwest. The winds are much lower than what would be seen in an equal strength hurricane because of the friction caused by the land.
The system created record low pressure in various cities in the Midwest.
Not a record, but the Terre Haute airport recorded a low pressure at 29.12” of mercury (989.1 mb) at 7:53 a.m.
