TERRE HAUTE, Ind (WTHI) - High School students with disabilities are getting the skills they need to get a job after they graduate.

The students are members of Project SEARCH. On Thursday, they showed off some of their work to the public at Union hospital.

Throughout the school year the students attend class at Union Hospital. They are taught by a teacher through the Vigo County School Corporation.

In the morning, the students work on vocational skills. Then in the afternoon, they do a selected internship around the hospital.

"Our job is to get them a community job either here at Union Hospital or to take the skills they learn here and get them a job in the community," program manager Debbie Wilford said.

Project SEARCH is limited to 12 students each school year.

For more information about the program and how to get involved, contact: Debbie Wilford, Program Manager at dwilford@hamiltoncenter.org or by phone at 812-231-8355.
