TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - College bound students in Indiana get free help in filing for financial aid Sunday afternoon.

Financial aid professionals from local universities and businesses help students and their families file for financial aid, or FAFSA at the 23rd annual College Goal Sunday.

The FAFSA is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, loans and scholarships at most colleges.

All paperwork must be filed by March 10th to receive state aid.

"I think it's a comfort to the families to know that they can go somewhere and have people who do this every day, assist them in making sure they get it done as accurately and effectively as possible," ISU Associate Director of Financial Aid Jacki Switzer said.

Ivy Tech was just one out of about 40 locations throughout Indiana that took part in the event.
