CLINTON, Ind (WTHI) - The Clinton, Indiana Police Department has hired five new reserve police officers to help patrol.

On Friday, it was day three for reserve officer Jason Pritchard of the Clinton Police Department.

"I think I am going to like it," Pritchard said.

Jason patrols the streets and also holds a full time job with the Vermillion County EMS. The only difference is being a reserve officer doesn't pay much.

"We just don't get paid, it is a volunteer position," Pritchard said.

On Tuesday, the Clinton Police Chief Curtis Stoffel swore in five new reserve officers.

"As taxpayers anytime you can get a service for free that helps the overall community you can't go wrong with that," Stoffel said.
